We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading hospitality group in Malta, seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef to lead a premium gastro pub concept in St Julian’s.

🎯 The Role

As Head Chef, you will take full ownership of the kitchen, driving both the creative and operational direction of a high-volume, quality-led gastro pub.

From crafting modern British classics to delivering outstanding Sunday roasts, you will lead a high-performing brigade and ensure consistency, quality, and innovation across every service.

📋 Key Responsibilities

• Lead all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service at all times
• Design and execute seasonal menus focused on elevated British gastro pub cuisine
• Deliver exceptional Sunday roast offerings with attention to detail and consistency
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control
• Manage food cost, stock levels, and supplier relationships
• Train, mentor, and develop the kitchen team to maintain high performance
• Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards
• Collaborate with senior management on concept development and menu evolution

💡 What We Are Looking For

• Proven experience as Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a premium gastro pub or restaurant
• Strong expertise in modern British / English cuisine and traditional techniques
• Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality Sunday roast service
• Experience working in Europe or currently based in Malta
• Strong leadership skills with a hands-on and structured approach
• Solid understanding of food costing, kitchen management, and operations
• Ability to perform consistently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
