Job Description:

Our client is a leading Malta-based furniture and joinery manufacturer, recognized for producing stylish, high-quality furniture and interior fittings. They are dedicated to craftsmanship, precision, and design excellence and are now seeking a skilled Carpenter to join their growing production team.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting, assembling, trimming, and finishing furniture and door components according to technical drawings and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in joinery, door fitting, and fine finishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders.

  • Measure, cut, trim, and assemble wood and related materials with precision.

  • Install and align doors, including trimming to fit accurately.

  • Fit and install locks, handles, hinges, and other door hardware.

  • Apply wax or other finishing products to doors and furniture to achieve the desired finish.

  • Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools (e.g., saws, planers, routers, drills) safely and effectively.

  • Assemble and fit furniture components such as frames, panels, drawers, and doors.

  • Conduct quality checks to ensure all finished items meet design and client standards.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment.

  • Work collaboratively with the production and installation teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a carpenter or joiner, preferably in furniture or door manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of woodworking, trimming, and door installation techniques.

  • Ability to install locks, hinges, and handles with precision and functionality.

  • Skilled in applying wax, varnish, or other finishes for professional results.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings.

  • Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.

  • Physically fit and capable of handling materials and machinery safely.

  • Good teamwork, time management, and communication skills.

  • English fluency (Maltese considered an asset).

Desirable Skills

  • Formal qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, or Woodworking.

  • Experience in bespoke or high-end furniture production.

  • Ability to assist with on-site installations when required.
