Electronic Technician
Job Description:
A leading engineering and marine services organisation is seeking a skilled Electronic Technician to join its team based at a shipyard facility in France.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of electronic control systems and components used in high-performance marine and industrial engines, with a strong focus on MTU propulsion and power generation systems.
This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving ability, and willingness to work in an international and field-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical functions in support of engineering activities, including setup, operation, maintenance, modification, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic systems.
- Provide customer support, including electronic installations and routine maintenance activities.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Install, connect, and terminate control cables and wiring systems.
- Diagnose electronic faults using tools such as voltmeters, cable testers, and thermal scanners.
- Adjust, repair, and replace defective electronic components using hand and power tools.
- Prepare technical sketches and follow schematics for wiring and equipment installation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and prepare technical reports on findings and interventions.
- Service and maintain engine electronic systems, ensuring operational reliability.
- Travel internationally for training and on-site service support when required.
- Support team operations and carry out additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Technical diploma or associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Electronic or Electrical Technician.
- Experience working on MTU engines or similar high-performance diesel/gas engines will be considered a strong advantage.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, soldering, and electronic rework techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
